We are currently looking for a seasoned PRIVATE BANKER with strong private banking relationships in the market to join our Wealth Management and Private Banking team. At Popular Bank, we are dedicated to enhancing the well-being and wealth of our clients and their families. We are developing the team to support our existing high-profile clients, in addition to anticipated exponential client growth. In this position you will serve as the main point of contact and relationship advocate for a select segment of clients within the high-net-worth client segmentation. You will be responsible for delivering the full portfolio to Popular's products and services to private banking clients to provide epic service, guidance and support. In this position you will primarily acquire, maintain and develop relationships with affluent clients with comprehensive financial service needs.
• Responsible for new client acquisition and/or book of business.
• Develop and manage a portfolio of private banking clients through a customized suite of products, in addition to traditional banking services consisting of credit, investment, insurance and mortgage products and services and deposit solutions.
• Cultivate existing private banking tier clients and establish new relationships by calling on prospective clients to uncover prospects needs for products and services and recommend solutions.
• Execute sales plans and strategies in order to help structure and solidify deals to ensure goals are consistently met.
• Conduct client needs assessments through continuous proactive client engagement and development of financial plans and profiling. Will proactively manage relationships that focus on collaborating with other internal partners such as Mortgage, Investment, Insurance and other banking specialists to develop and broaden customized Popular products and service solutions for each proposed client.
• Identify opportunities to deliver appropriate commercial, retail, insurance, investment and financial planning services.
• Collaborate with other internal specialists and take ownership for resolving client’s banking needs to ensure an exceptional Private Banking client experience.
• Monitor current clients’ banking relationship deposits and loans to proactively maintain asset quality. Will continually monitor client information, products, and market trends to identify new needs and opportunities.
• Train and mentor Private Banking Service Officers and collaborate with branch personnel relative to training, customer service and referral practices.
• Maintain knowledge and understanding of appropriate legislation and regulations affecting banking and customer interaction to ensure that all transactions and customer relationships are handled in a manner consistent with laws and regulations.
• Ensure a high quality and compliant portfolio of client relationships by working within audit, compliance and regulatory guidelines.
• Bachelor’s Degree required
• Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in private banking relationship management with concentration in establishing high net worth client base.
• Ability to develop complex credit relationships with high-net-worth individuals and corporations/partnerships to provide appropriate financial direction.
• Strong business acumen with strong attention to operational policies and procedures combined with strong sales ability and persuasiveness.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Travel will be required to visit clients in branches.
• The following licenses are required: FINRA Series 7, Series 63, Series 65 and 66 and state insurance licenses required.
Our base salary for this position located in New York City generally ranges between $160,000.00 and $182,500.00 annually, depending on business need and on your qualifications and experience. Base salary does not include incentive compensation, commission, or any other type of remuneration or benefits. Base salary may vary if position is based in other geographic locations.
