As a Manager – Tax, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and implementing specialty tax initiatives, ensuring compliance with evolving tax laws and regulations. You'll work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop and execute tax strategies, manage complex property tax planning activities, and drive continuous improvements in processes and systems. You will lead cross-functional initiatives, negotiate with state & local revenue departments, and provide valuable insights to optimize tax policies, all while managing a dynamic team and driving tax management strategies for the company.

Location: This position will be fully onsite in Bentonville, AR

You’ll make an impact by...

• Defining and Implementing Tax Processes : Develop and implement cutting-edge specialty tax work processes and programs, ensuring efficiency and compliance with evolving tax laws and regulations.
• Driving Cross-Functional Initiatives : Lead medium to large-scale cross-functional initiatives, working closely with teams across the company to align tax plans with organizational goals and industry trends.
• Strategic Tax Guidance : Provide expert guidance to internal business partners, influencing the development of projects and initiatives, and recommending optimal tax policies to minimize tax burdens.
• Negotiation and Issue Resolution : Negotiate with state & local revenue departments to resolve tax filing issues and drive tax management strategies for the company.
• Compliance and Risk Management : Lead reverse audit processes, review and manage tax-related documentation, and address irregularities discovered during routine reviews to ensure compliance and reduce exposure.
• Legislative and Policy Impact : Monitor, evaluate, and determine the impact of new or pending legislation on the company's tax strategy, advising senior leadership on necessary adjustments.
• Training and Development : Oversee team training, create effective tax-related documents, and ensure that work processes align with company directives and industry best practices.
• Building Strategic Relationships : Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including state auditors and jurisdictional contacts, to streamline audit and compliance processes while protecting company assets.
• External Representation and Advocacy : Represent the company in interactions with tax authorities, suppliers, and at industry events, communicating the company’s tax strategy and filing positions effectively.
• Continuous Improvement and Innovation : Identify and implement system or process enhancements to ensure compliance and improve efficiency, presenting actionable recommendations to senior leadership for approval.

Skills

• Expertise in Property Tax : Strong understanding of complex commercial real and personal property tax concepts, with the ability to apply this knowledge effectively to planning and strategy development.
• Proven Experience in Property Tax Valuation and Planning : Demonstrated experience in property tax valuation, asset segregation projects, and implementing strategic tax planning initiatives to drive efficiency and compliance.
• Advanced Data Analysis Skills : Skilled at navigating large data sets to extract actionable insights and developing tools that enhance data analysis and decision-making processes.
• Data Collection and Analysis : Expertise in collecting and analyzing data, whether from business results or by designing and managing new studies to support business objectives.
• Report Creation and Presentation Development : Experience in correlating data, developing comprehensive reports, and creating impactful presentations that communicate insights clearly to stakeholders.
• Proficient in Data Management Tools : Practical experience with industry-leading data management tools, including SAP, Power BI, Alteryx, and others, to streamline tax-related processes and improve overall efficiency.
• Exceptional Technical Writing and Communication : Outstanding ability to translate complex data into clear, concise, and actionable reports, ensuring stakeholders can easily understand and act on critical information.
• Collaborative and Independent Work Style : Capable of working both independently and as part of a diverse team, adapting to various perspectives and contributing effectively to team-driven projects.

• Proficiency with Leading Data Tools : Experience using industry-standard tools such as SAP, Power BI, Alteryx, and others to manage and analyze complex data sets.
• Expertise in Fixed Asset Capitalization : In-depth understanding of fixed asset capitalization processes, ensuring accurate accounting and financial reporting.
• Strong Background in Fixed Asset Data Analysis : Proven track record in analyzing and interpreting fixed asset data to inform strategic decision-making and optimize asset management.
• Operational Data Analytics Experience : Solid background in operations data analytics, with the ability to translate data insights into actionable business strategies.
• Advanced Education : Master’s Degree in Finance or Economics, providing a solid foundation in financial principles and economic analysis.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) : Hold a certification in Financial & Insurance, demonstrating expertise in accounting and financial reporting.
• Obsolescence Reporting Confidence : Skilled in preparing detailed obsolescence reports, identifying asset depreciation and impairment to guide financial planning.
• Business and Personal Property Tax Experience : Extensive experience in managing both business and personal property tax matters, ensuring compliance and tax efficiency.
• Exceptional Negotiation Skills : Strong ability to negotiate favorable outcomes with internal and external stakeholders, particularly in tax and asset-related matters.
• Leadership Experience : Over 1 year of experience in leadership or supervisory roles, successfully managing cross-functional task forces and driving key projects forward.
• Machinery and Equipment Evaluation Expertise : Experience conducting machinery and equipment evaluations, providing accurate assessments for tax, compliance, and strategic purposes.
• Property Tax Certification : Hold a CMI (Certified Member of the Institute) designation in property tax, demonstrating specialized expertise in the field.
• Appraisal Designations : Possess evaluation designations such as ASA (American Society of Appraisers), showcasing advanced knowledge in asset valuation.
• Comprehensive Evaluation and Strategy Skills : Strong expertise in asset evaluation, strategic planning, and appraisal, with a keen ability to develop effective solutions to optimize financial outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field AND 2 - 4 years’ experience in accounting, finance, income tax compliance, or related area.

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00-$155,000.00
