Job Details - Location: Lauderdale, FL
- Type of Employment: Temporary.
- Schedule: Flexible/Hybrid – 2 or 3 times a week on-site.
Job Summary Our team is entrusted with the design of the supply chain, and the hiring of logistics services for nearly 2 million metric tons of wood pulp and paper across North America. We manage cargo from Brazil, utilizing both breakbulk and container shipping methods, and coordinate distribution to various locations in North America by directly engaging with ports, intermodal facilities, Class I Railroads, trucking companies (both asset-based and brokers), and barges.
In this role, you will be expected to conduct negotiations with trucking companies, monitor the performance, and proactively intervene when issues arise. You will also be tasked with strengthening relationships with applicable suppliers and collaborating with teams across Planning, Paper Commercial, Customer Service, Logistics Operations, and Operational Excellence.
Your day-to-day interactions will also involve liaising with our third-party warehouse providers and customs brokers. Agility will be key in ensuring the expected transportation service level across our paper lanes. We anticipate that you will be highly organized, able to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and demonstrate your analytical, creative, and problem-solving skills.
- Negotiate transportation for paper lanes.
- Work closely with Customer Service, Logistics operations, and Paper Commercial teams to meet ongoing shipment targets.
- Serve as a point of contact for trucking companies, ensuring adherence to negotiated terms.
- Proactively identify and mitigate deviations to ensure smooth operations.
- Monitor supplier performance and report key performance indicators to the Procurement team.
- Maintain up-to-date transportation cost details in our SAP ERM and other relevant internal platforms.
- Participate in various projects, audits, and initiatives, contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
- Manage relationships and performance of approximately 40 suppliers.
- Actively seek the most cost-effective solutions that meet our customers’ requirements.
- Provide assistance to the Accounts Payable department as needed.
Requirements - Work permit for the USA.
- Fluent in English and Proficiency in Spanish at an intermediate level.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience in procurement, with strong negotiation skills.
- Familiarity with logistics-related transactions in SAP and Oracle Transportation Management (TMS).
- Experience in the hiring of asset-based trucking and brokerage.
- Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
