Hatch is seeking a  Landscape Architect Intern  to join its team in  Boston, MA to assist with current and exciting future projects. We are looking for students that enjoy working with people in a multidisciplinary team environment and strive for excellence.

 

The position will allow candidates to directly apply and develop their knowledge in sustainable landscape design. In addition to theoretical design and analytical work, candidates will gain valuable real-world experience and work closely with experienced landscape architects and engineers who will provide guidance and mentoring.

 

The Boston team is a center of excellence focusing on green infrastructure (GI) design, landscape architecture, sustainable site design, landscape restoration, urban forestry, and climate change resiliency. Our capability spans through the whole project lifecycle, comprising conceptual design, feasibility studies, basic and detailed engineering, construction administration, monitoring and long-term management.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support our interdisciplinary team in planning, designing, permitting and overseeing of construction on a variety of site development, urban forestry and green infrastructure projects including transit developments, complete and green streets, parks and greenways, constructed wetlands, shoreline restoration and full site sustainable development
  • Use the application of Landscape Architecture principles to provide efficient, effective, economical and timely solutions to design problems in an interdisciplinary project environment.
  • Application of innovative sustainable design solutions.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled in and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, or similar degree.
  • Minimum of a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Candidates with previous internship or co-op experience is an asset.
  • Experience with AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Aptitude for working on interdisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to achieving engineering excellence.
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge to various practical problems.
  • A desire to learn and continually develop.
  • Strong personal commitment to safety.

     

Reporting to:  Senior Landscape Architect

  • Assist with preparation of detailed design for projects
  • Support preparation of drawings from detailed notes and specifications
  • Coordination with other technicians/engineers on projects
  • Provide support to Senior Engineers and Designers as and when needed
