Job Description and Duties

This position is located at the DMV Investigations District Office in Vallejo.

The Investigations Division is seeking an enthusiastic and dependable professional to collect, organize and analyze documents related to Citizen Complaints; Internal Affairs criminal investigative cases and administrative cases.  The incumbent will conduct preliminary casework; research suspects personal identifying information; background history information; DMV driver license and vehicle registration records, and computer data.  Analyze telephone records pursuant to search warrants and administrative subpoenas, create and maintain suspect files; prepare interview notification letters for witnesses or victims; prepare interview packets and criminal cases and administrative cases for filings; load, transport, catalog and store evidence. The Incumbent works closely with the Supervising Investigator I, may assist in search warrant executions after the area is secured and assist with recording and gathering of evidence.  Schedule appointments with witnesses and victims through telephone and written formats; assist with in-person interviews; accompany investigators to state and federal Public Integrity Prosecutor's, office for criminal filings; and performs other duties as required. 

This is a non-sworn position.

The Investigator employment list will be used as an appropriate list to fill this position.  List eligibles on the Investigator employment list may apply for this position.  If the selected candidate is on the Investigator employment list, they will be hired in the classification of Special Investigator Assistant and will maintain their eligibility on the Investigator employment list.
