Job Description: 

We are seeking a part-time Senior AWS / DevOps Engineer to join our team in supporting the operations, automation, and modernization of AWS cloud infrastructure for a federal customer. The ideal candidate is a hands-on AWS expert with a strong background in systems administration, infrastructure automation, cloud security, and leadership.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Administer and optimize AWS cloud infrastructure including EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and related services

• Serve as primary technical point of contact for internal and external stakeholders

• Support and manage both Linux and Windows EC2 instances, including patching, upgrades, and system performance tuning

• Drive cloud migration and modernization initiatives; identify automation opportunities to improve deployment efficiency and reduce costs

• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using CloudFormation, Terraform, and Ansible

• Support and optimize CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins and GitHub

• Implement and enforce AWS best practices for security, performance, availability, and compliance (FedRAMP, ATO)

• Monitor systems and troubleshoot complex issues to maintain maximum uptime and security posture

• Maintain thorough system documentation, diagrams, and SOPs to support operational readiness and knowledge transfer

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in IT-related field and 8+ years of relevant experience (or Master’s with 6+ years). Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and architecture
• Proficiency in Linux and Windows system administration and shell scripting
• Hands-on experience with AWS CLI, Management Console, and Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible)
• Strong understanding of IAM, cloud networking (VPCs, NACLs, NSGs, DNS), and cloud security principles
• Experience supporting or managing FedRAMP, RMF, or ATO processes
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks

Desired:

• Experience with DevSecOps automation tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Experience with container and container management technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc.
• Extensive experience with AWS
• Experience with installing, configuring, integrating, and maintaining tools and technologies like Jenkins, JIRA, SonarQube, Fortify, Git.
• Knowledge of cyber vulnerabilities and threat tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
• AWS Solutions Architect – Professional certification
• Experience with containerization (EKS, ECR), DevSecOps, and cloud-native toolchains
• Familiarity with vulnerability scanning, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and log management tools

Clearance:

• Secret

Compensation: $70,000 - $75,000 (part-time)
