Job Description

Job Summary:

The Department of Medicine conducts federally funded NIH or industry sponsored clinical research involving drugs, devices, biologic agents, imaging, and breakthrough technologies. This position involves coordinating these clinical trials within the department, providing nursing care for research participants, and managing research protocols. The Department of Medicine includes eleven divisions covering the range of internal medicine subspecialties. This position supports clinical trials and may work with study teams across any of these divisions depending on needs.

Responsibilities:

Assists in research logistic management, screens study participants, and provides participant information and clinical care according to established research plans to ensure accuracy of research.
  • 5% Secures and schedules logistics for clinical research projects according to the research plan
  • 20% Assists in the recruitment and screening of subjects for clinical studies by conducting physical health assessments
  • 10% Provides professional nursing care to patients according to established protocols
  • 5% Provides appropriate treatment plan direction and information to study participants
  • 10% Serves as main point of contact and liaison to project participants, investigators, research sponsors, and the research team delivering study information in accordance with established research project standards and protocols
  • 20% Collects, verifies, and enters data into database and analyzes clinical information data
  • 5% Serves a primary point of contact for emergent study participant situations related to adverse effects or complications of the study
  • 5% May provide expertise, training, and guidance to the community, peers, and/or students
  • 10% Prepares research participant information/consent/authorization
  • 5% Initiates and maintains clinical research regulatory compliance for assigned protocols including but not limited to the IRB approval and regulatory documents per FDA, HHS and GCP guidelines
  • 5% Assists with development of a comprehensive budget for each clinical research protocol

Education:

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree in nursing.

Eligibility for RN license in State of WI required.

Qualifications:

- Nursing experience required
- Experience in clinical trials, knowledge of good clinical practice, understanding of federal research regulations is preferred

Candidates must have ability to listen, understand and communicate information and ideas effectively in writing, over the phone, or in person. Must also have excellent time management skills, ability to work independently or collaboratively, and ability to manage multiple projects despite interruptions, while closely tracking details and looking for ways to improve processes.

Depending on Qualifications
The expected salary range for this position is $62,500 up to $87,500 for highly experienced candidates. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications.

Additional Information:

University sponsorship is not available for this position, including transfers of sponsorship.
