Painter

Location: Los Fresnos, TX

Reports To: Program Manager

Employment Type: Full-Time | Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Summary:

The Painter Technician is responsible for the preparation, application, and finishing of paint coatings on modular housing units. This role ensures all surfaces are properly treated, coated, and finished according to project specifications while maintaining high-quality standards and efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Surface Preparation & Painting Application:

• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming before painting.
• Mix and apply paint, stains, or protective coatings according to specifications.
• Operate and maintain painting tools and equipment, including spray guns, rollers, and brushes.

Quality Control & Finishing:

• Ensure smooth, even application of paint and coatings with attention to detail.
• Conduct inspections to identify imperfections and perform necessary touch-ups.
• Maintain consistent color matching and finish quality in accordance with project standards.

Material Handling & Inventory Management:

• Manage paint and supply inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels for production.
• Properly store and dispose of paints, solvents, and other hazardous materials following safety guidelines.
• Track material usage and report needs for replenishment.

Safety & Compliance:

• Follow all safety protocols related to painting, including ventilation, protective equipment, and handling of hazardous materials.
• Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and OSHA guidelines.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote efficiency and safety.

Process Improvement & Reporting:

• Identify opportunities to improve painting techniques and efficiency.
• Maintain records of work completed, including time, materials used, and any issues encountered.
• Participate in safety meetings and quality control inspections.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ years of experience in painting, preferably in construction or manufacturing.
• Experience with spray painting equipment and industrial coatings is a plus.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality finishes.
• Familiarity with different types of paints, stains, and surface treatments.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and project specifications.
• Basic knowledge of paint mixing and color matching techniques.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in physically demanding conditions.
• Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
• Comfortable working in environments with varying temperatures and exposure to fumes.

Work Environment:

• Warehouse and modular housing production facility.
• Exposure to paint fumes, dust, and construction materials.
• May require occasional overtime to meet project deadlines.
