Job Description
As part of a formal apprenticeship or regional training program, assists Materials Engineering Technicians to learn and develop the skills necessary to obtain a regionally applicable, Certification as an Experienced Technician (e.g. US Department of Labor). Independently performs work to help support area needs during work rotations in other applicable labs.
Key Responsibilities:
Learns to operate various analytical instruments and equipment and perform physical analysis in support of Materials Engineering Technicians. Assists with routine calibrations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repair of instruments and equipment. Assists with the collection, transportation, and documentation of chemical waste disposal. Learns to prepare samples; assists in gathering, interpreting, and documenting test results; learns to prepare appropriate methods documentation, laboratory reports, and technical reports. Attends classes and training programs and makes appropriate progress necessary to build skills and knowledge required to pass any regionally applicable certification examinations. Conducts work independently in the areas described above after sufficient training. Assists other technicians and engineers as required. Participates in the maintenance of quality procedures and work instructions. Participates in improvement projects. Participates in and maintains cleanliness within the workplace. Participates in self- and team-audits and associated corrective actions. Performs other miscellaneous duties as required.

Data Acquisition - Prepares samples, verifies equipment calibration and performs tests according to an approved standard procedure or work instruction in a manner which ensures, and results in, data that can be trusted and delivered to the engineer or customer.
Material Characterization - Interprets mechanical, chemical, microstructural and physical properties using laboratory equipment to confirm compliance to print, and correlates these properties with field or component test results to determine robustness; defines appropriate material characterization schedule using correct laboratory equipment to ensure requirements are met.
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
Must meet the minimum educational requirements to be ready to start a formal apprenticeship or training program.
Registration in a regionally certified apprenticeship learning or training program required. Experience: Minimal or no work experience required.

**Additional Manager notes**
This candidate will be responsible for testing products in the Fuel and Lube lab. While working with engineers the ideal candidate will be responsible for the completion of a request from start to finish which includes working with pumps and motors, running tests, and modern plumbing. This candidate should value quality and run a clean and safe area.
***Max pay rate $20/HR***
This role has a flexible start time between 6am-9am working 8 hours. When the manager is ready, he will be requesting 1-hour interviews to show the facility and to conduct a formal interview.
