Full-Time Faculty, Associate Degree Nurse Education Program Division of Health Professions and Human Services MCCC/MTA Unit Position SALARY: Anticipated starting salary is $60,000 - $81,000. Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with the MCCC/MTA collective bargaining agreement. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: - Works as a member of the teaching teams to teach to each Medical Surgical Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Health Assessment, Pharmacology and Nursing Leadership in the classroom, clinical setting and clinical simulation laboratory.
- Participates in program committees, curriculum development, program accreditation, evaluation of students, computerized test development, student advising, program and college committees.
- Performs other duties as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.
- Availability to teach day and or evenings in the clinical setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Complete orientation to the College, Nurse Education Program and assigned clinical agency.
- Participate on assigned Program committees.
- Attend College, Division and Program meetings.
- Maintain and document currency in areas of professional expertise. Submit documentation of Professional development to DON on annual basis.
- Participates in the development, evaluation and revision of the Program curriculum.
- Prepare and teach assigned classes.
- Follows program policies to assign course grades.
- Work with teaching team to prepare course materials per teaching team schedule.
- Monitor class attendance and submit to Blackboard Team.
- Advise assigned students and keep advising log and submit to SON at the end of each semester
- Engage in the Development and peer review of test questions, enter questions into testing software.
- Participate in item analysis of test questions.
- Participates in the Systematic Program Evaluation Process (SPE) for ongoing program Improvement.
- Assist Team Leader/Course Coordinator and with preparation of course materials.
- Assist with curriculum implementation in the nursing skills lab and simulation lab.
- Participates in clinical simulation, debriefing & evaluation.
- Manage clinical teaching and evaluation for assigned students.
- Correlate clinical assignments to course curriculum and student learning outcomes.
- Prepare student clinical assignments and materials prior to the clinical experience.
- Directly Supervise all medication administration in the clinical area.
- Communicates on a weekly basis with the Team Leader/Course Coordinator regarding clinical attendance, student performance and other appropriate matters.
- Evaluate student clinical performance using formative and summative evaluation tools.
- Conduct pre and post clinical conferences.
- Facilitate student evaluation of clinical agency at the end of each rotation.
- Submit summative student clinical evaluations in Exam Soft.
- Interact on an ongoing basis with clinical agency personnel to foster a positive learning environment.
- Meet with the nurse manager at the beginning and end of each academic year or semester to evaluate the learning environment. Submits minutes of the meeting to the Department Chairperson.
- Complete annual CCP requirements, submits documentation to the Department Chairperson & clinical agency.
- Maintain current BLS certification and health documentation for program files.
- Ensures compliance with ACEN standards & MABORN regulations.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Director of Nursing
Job Requirements:
- An earned Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited college/university
- Minimum 2 years of full-time employment in nursing within the past 5 years
- Evidence of clinical competence in area(s) of Medical Surgical Nursing is required.
- Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in good standing required.
- Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations
- Ability to work and collaborate in a team teaching environment
- BLS Health Provider Level certification from AHA required.
- Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a National background check as a condition of employment
- Candidate will be required to clear a 10 panel urine drug screen per clinical placement policy as a condition of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Face 2 Face, online, hybrid and or videoconferencing teaching experience.
- Knowledge and experience with the use of patient simulators and technology
