Role Description
This is a volunteer role as a Board Member for the American Red Cross - Northern Michigan Chapter. The Board Member will be responsible for actively participating in meetings, making strategic decisions, and advocating for the organization's mission. 

Last year, the American Red Cross:

• Responded to 62,000 disasters, big and small, providing shelter, food, comfort and more.
• Provided lifesaving training and information in first aid, water safety and other skills to more than 6.2 million people.
• Provided more than 422,000 services to service members, veterans and their families.
• Collected, tested and delivered about 6.6 million units—40% of the nation’s blood supply— for patients in need.
• Provided disaster, recovery or disease prevention activities benefiting nearly 174 million people outside the U.S.

Red Cross Board Functions and Requirements

• Fulfill mission.
• Develop relationships and resources to assist with volunteer recruitment, fundraising and blood donations.
• Serve as a Red Cross ambassador.
• Support chapter board administration.
• Serve on a committee.
• Attend board meetings regularly.
• Contribute toward fundraising goals.
• Develop and implement an individual board member engagement plan.
• Participate in volunteer satisfaction and board member surveys.
• Recruit and cultivate new diverse board members.
• Track volunteer hours.
